Critical Thinking For Everyone

It’s safe to say that everyone is skeptical of something. So we’re calling this year’s Skepticamp “Critical Thinking For Everyone,” and are welcoming participants to address, within their presentations, how we as skeptics can reach out a broader, more inclusive audience and better communicate science, skepticism and critical thinking “to the masses.” We’re getting behind participants and encouraging them to consider and emphasize aspects of their presentations topics that highlight “Critical Thinking For Everyone”

So, you in?

Let’s GO!

  1. REGISTER, REGISTER, REGISTER!
    • Registering  confirms you as a Skepticamp participant. Confirmed Participants have priority as far as: A) A time slot on the presentation agenda, and B) Receiving an officially licensed Skepticamp t-shirt. You can update your registration at any time if your topic or attendance plans change.
    • If you’re not ready to register, please do still RSVP on Meetup in the meantime. Having a ballpark attendee estimate for both days helps us a LOT. Once you know what days you’re attending, if you’re presenting, your topic, etc, REGISTER to the dark side, and become a Confirmed Participant.
    • In the event we begin to run low on: time for presentations, t-shirts, the availability of clean water and dry land, Confirmed Participants will have priority. So, REGISTER!
  2. PARTICIPATE!
    • Volunteer! If you are participating at Skepticamp by helping run the conference, you can let us know areas where you’d most like to contribute your skeptical time and effort, when you REGISTER as a volunteer.
    • HELP-A-THON! There’s still a lot of work to be done before Skepticamp, and it will take MORE than just a few of us to take care of it all. If you’re ready to help Skepticamp NOW, please and join the Atlanta Skepticamp Organizing and Planning Group. I’m going to start doling out the work over there riiiight about…. now!
  3. LISTEN! Atlanta Skepticamp 2010 will be a topic of discussion on next week’s episodes of both Skepticality and Skeptically Speaking.
  4. LEARN! Need to get in shape for Skepticamp? SkeptiBOOTcamp is here to help! We’ll have 4 workshops, giving speakers the opportunity to work on their presentations together, and get some refresher lessons in areas such as using Powerpoint and calming your public speaking nerves.
  5. SPREAD THE WORD! Blog about it, email it, post it, tweet it, sing about it in the shower, let me talk about it on your podcast. This is where we need your help the most,  and conveniently for you, it requires the least amount of your precious time and effort! So it’s a win-win. Remember, the first Rule of Skepticamp is… TALK ABOUT SKEPTICAMP!
